Piggy Pennies
Budgeting Just Got More Fun!
About Piggy Pennies
Piggy Pennies is an app and responsive website design I created for Google’s UX Design Professional Certificate Program. Piggy Pennies allows individuals to budget for individual needs and group goals. Users can budget for their needs and for enjoyment. Piggy Pennies also gives users access to education and articles about budgeting so they can learn while they save.
The Problem and the Goal
Users wanted an app and website that was able to help them budget for individual needs, like groceries or rent, along with sharing group savings goals with other users, like for a trip or event. Many other products did not give the full experience they wanted. The goal of the project was to combine these two needs into one functional experience, along with adding education and connection to the overall budgeting experience.
User Pain Points
Some products were not family-friendly enough to allow for older children to participate in saving toward a family goal.
Other products did not motivate users or provide group interactivity when saving together.
Other products did not provide the user with enough guidance, tips, articles, or education about how to budget.
What I Learned
Throughout this project, it was apparent that the functionality of the app for users was at the forefront. Every change I made was to enhance the ease of use and user enjoyment while operating Piggy Pennies. I learned that users are really the brains behind any project, and UX Designers are just the hands that put it all together.
